Terms of Use
Last updated: September 2026
1. What POSWatch is
POSWatch is a public registry documenting clergy, missionaries, and preachers whose public ministry has produced harm to a person. By using this site, filing a report, or submitting a rebuttal, you agree to these Terms. Our scope and evidentiary rules are set out in the Charter, which forms part of these Terms.
2. Entries are allegations pending and after review
An entry documents an allegation supported by primary-source evidence. Approval by a moderator means the filing cleared our evidentiary floor. It is not a court judgment, a criminal conviction, or a finding of guilt. Read every entry as a sourced allegation, and read it alongside any rebuttal attached to it.
3. Sworn-filing requirement
Full-weight filings must be sworn. When you file under oath you attest that your account is true to the best of your knowledge, and you accept that perjury statutes apply where the underlying conduct occurred. Anonymous tips are accepted but carry reduced weight. Filing falsely, or filing to harass, is a breach of these Terms and may expose you to legal liability.
4. User conduct
You agree to file only within scope, to name subjects accurately, and to attach genuine primary sources. You must not submit content you know to be false, must not impersonate a declarant, subject, or their counsel, must not attempt to circumvent the anti-spam filing fee, and must not use POSWatch to threaten, dox, or incite violence against any person, including a named subject. We may reject or remove filings that breach these rules.
5. No unverified or defamatory content
Filings that lack a qualifying primary source, that rest on paraphrase where a direct quote is required, that document theological disagreement rather than harm to a person, or that appear to be personal grudges dressed as public conduct, will not be published. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit. Do not submit content that is defamatory, that you cannot source, or that you are legally barred from disclosing.
6. Right of reply
A named subject, their organization, family, or legal counsel may submit a rebuttal on the entry page. The same evidentiary rules apply to a rebuttal. POSWatch displays the entry and the rebuttal together. To request a correction of a factual error, contact [email protected] with the filing reference. See About for the full corrections and takedown process.
7. Permanence of the record
Every filing, approval, rebuttal, and withdrawal is hash-chained, SHA-256-canonicalized, and OpenTimestamp-anchored. The ledger is append-only. A withdrawal is recorded as a counter-entry rather than an erasure. Do not file if you expect to have the record quietly deleted later.
8. Liability disclaimer
POSWatch is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Nothing here is legal advice. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for any damages arising from use of the registry, from reliance on any entry, or from content submitted by users. Content submitted by filers is the responsibility of the filer.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by the date above. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
